What services does the library provide?
We can provide help in finding information to support clinical and professional development needs.
Over 10,000 books are available for loan from the Rodney Cove-Smith library and Friarage Hospital library. Up to 8 books may be borrowed for a period of 4 weeks. You can search for and renew books using the online catalogue. To renew online a PIN number is required, please contact the library to arrange this.
You can also renew and reserve books by email, by telephone or in person.
A range of journals are available online through an NHS Athens account. We can supply copies of articles from journals that are not stocked by the library at a charge of 50p per request. You may need to complete and sign a Photocopy Declaration form for each request.
We can provide many of our services face-to-face in your workplace or in the library, by telephone or email. A tour of the library and an explanation of services and resources is available. Please contact the library to arrange individual or group tours.
Computer, photocopying and study space facilities
There are 40 PC’s, 3 printers and 2 scanners in the library. A photocopying machine is available at 10p per A4 sheet. A quiet study space is also available in the library.

These include clinical databases (e.g. Medline, Embase, CINAHL, British Nursing Index, AMED, HMIC, Emcare and PsycINFO) and over 5000 electronic journals, guidelines and evidence based reviews. The learning resources librarian, provides teaching in using the electronic resources. This can be delivered in the library or in your workplace, to individuals or groups.
