Resuscitation Training Department

The Resuscitation Department is based within the South Tees Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation at The James Cook University Hospital it also has staff based at the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton.  The department provides standardised and organised training to teach theoretical and practical resuscitation skills to both health care and non-health care professionals. As well as our own Trust staff we have carried out training for the, Police Force, Forensic Teams, Fire Service, Dental Practices, International Rescue, GPs, London’s Women’s Clinic, staff from other  Trusts, St Oswald’s Hospice, Teesside Hospice, Team Prevent UK, Tees Valley Public Health, Zoë’s Place Children’s Hospice and many more.  All our instructors have both clinical and educational expertise and work to the current Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines.

Courses offered by the department include:

  • Immediate Life Support (ILS)
  • Paediatric Immediate Life Support (PILS)
  • Adult Basic Life Support for Clinical Staff (ABLS)
  • Adult Basic Life Support for non-clinical staff
  • Paediatric Basic Life Support (PBLS)
  • Paediatric Basic Life Support for non-clinical staff
  • Adult Basic Life Support & Automated External Defibrillation (AED)
  • Anaphylaxis Awareness
  • Adult & Paediatric Basic Life Support for non-healthcare staff
  • Bespoke training as and when required
  • Pre Course training for Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) courses
