Celebrating our best year yet!
It’s International Clinical Trials Day on Saturday 20 May 2017 and South Tees Hospitals is looking back on 2016 to 2017 as its best year in Research and Development yet!
Last year, 3,457 patients were recruited to take part in 195 research studies, compared to 2,538 patients in the previous year.
We increased the number of patients involved in research at our trust by 17%, compared to the 10% National Average and also recruited the very first patient in one global and five UK studies.

The R&D team would like to issue the following thank yous for all the effort put into making 2016 to 2017 our best year in R&D yet:
- Thank you to the 3457 patients who said ‘YES’ to being part of a clinical trial
- Thank you to the 117 clinical staff who lead 198 clinical trials across the Trust from Neonatology to Cardiology
- Thank you to the 12 pioneering Chief Investigators who have set up National research trials hosted by the Trust
- Thank you to the 85 research support staff and specialist nurses across the Trust who enable the clinical teams to deliver their research
