The James Cook University Hospital site
The directorate provides facilities for continuing education for all hospital medical staff. This includes weekly postgraduate lectures, seminars, regular symposia and provision of information on regional and national courses. The postgraduate medical & dental education programme is co-ordinated by the directorate. There is a Thursday lunchtime lecture, during term-time, which is video conferenced to the Friarage hospital site and attended by general practitioners and hospital doctors, as well as frequent seminars, meetings and symposia which may be specialised or of more general interest. The STRIVE Academic Centre is also well used for departmental or unit postgraduate activity, such as audit sessions, teaching, simulation and business meetings. All postgraduate activities are widely advertised as well as appearing in the terms programme sent to all GPs and hospital doctors.
