The library is situated in the South Tees Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation (formely the Academic Centre) at the Friarage Hospital. It is open to ALL staff employed by South Tees Hospitals NHS trust, including staff of the MDHU and students on placement from university. Staff working for other NHS Trusts may also have services available.
Members of the Friarage library also have access to the library at The James Cook University Hospital.
You do not need to be registered to browse or use the resources for reference purposes but if you wish to borrow items you will need to register, all we require is your staff/university ID.
Up to 8 books may be borrowed for a period of 4 weeks. They may be renewed by personal visit, telephone or email provided they are not required by another reader. You can also search for and renew books using the library catalogue.
We subscribe to a selection of journals covering aspects of Medicine and Nursing. The current issues are kept in the display area and back issues (normally 10 years) are also stored in the library.
Books and journal articles not in stock can be obtained through the interlibrary loan service at a charge of 50p per request.
There are 8 open access computers which can be used by trust staff and students. All computers have Internet access and are linked to printers.
The library has a quiet study area which can accommodate 8 people. Lockers are available in the library for use by library customers.
